Free Google Index Checker
Check if your URL can be indexed by Google. We analyze meta robots tags, robots.txt rules, canonical URLs, and provide a direct link to verify if your page is actually in Google's index.
What We Check
Meta Robots Tag
We check for noindex directives in meta robots and googlebot-specific tags that block indexing.
Robots.txt Rules
We analyze your robots.txt to see if the URL is blocked from Googlebot and other crawlers.
Canonical URL
We verify the canonical tag points to the correct URL, not a different page that would be indexed instead.
Google Search Link
We provide a direct site: search link so you can instantly verify if your page is in Google's index.
How Google Indexing Works
For a page to appear in Google search results, it must first be indexed. Google's crawler (Googlebot) discovers pages, analyzes their content, and adds them to Google's index. But several factors can prevent indexing - from explicit noindex tags to robots.txt blocks.
Common Reasons Pages Aren't Indexed
- Meta robots noindex - Explicitly tells Google not to index the page
- Blocked by robots.txt - Prevents Googlebot from even crawling the page
- Canonical points elsewhere - Google indexes the canonical URL instead
- HTTP errors - 404, 500, or other errors prevent indexing
- Low quality content - Google may choose not to index thin or duplicate content
Can vs. Is Indexed
This tool checks if your page can be indexed - meaning no technical blockers exist. But a page being allowed doesn't mean Google has actually indexed it. Use the "Check in Google" button to verify actual indexing status. If your page isn't indexed yet, IndexMachine can help by proactively submitting your URLs to search engines.
